Early 20th Century Set of Large Amber Glass Apothecary Poison Bottles
Date: early 20th Century
PRICE: $ 1300
Dimensions: H 35cm Diameter 12.5cm
Interesting set of pressed ABM glass apothecary bottles.
(ABM - Automatic Bottle Machines started 1903, bottles made by ABM can be identified by seam that goes all the way to the top of the mouth).
The darker smaller one is a hexagonal shaped German poison bottle with a skull & crossbones embossed on it, marked Gift and Giftflasche (which is German for poison and poison-bottle) on the bottom it says 1000 which stands for 1000ml or 1 liter.
It is 25.5cm high (10 inch) and the diameter is 10cm (3.9inch)
The more yellow large one has Poison embossed on the bottle twice, it holds 2800ml or 2.8liters.
It is 35cm high (13.8 inch) and 12.5cm (4.9 inch) in diameter
Antique poison bottles are often found in bright colours such as green, amber, and cobalt blue.
These poison bottles usually have sharp, embossed points or lines on them, like these bottles have, to warn that the contents of the bottle could be fatal.
Very pretty these original antique medical bottles, they would make a nice addition to a curiosity cabinet collection.
Both in very good condition, no cracks or chips.
Not quite sure if the stopper of the smaller 'Giftflasche' is original
