Carved Sea Shell from Tibet also known as Dung-Dkar
19th century From Tibet
Dimensions: H 21 cm Dm 6 cm
How do these pretty hand carved antique trumpet shells from Tibet end up in The Netherlands? Not a clue. And were will they go next. Could be anywhere. But I was specifically wondering how sea shells get in Tibet in the first place. There a no beaches in Tibet are there? I found out these Dung Dkar shells originally came from the Indian Ocean. And are used by monks to please the gods. Never the less these are real, rare, very old and gorgeous. So I bought them. Tried to make some music with them and found out these shells look better than they taste or sound. Did not manage to please any god but hopefully you can.
