Finely engraved by Trapanese coral masters.
Trapani (a Sicilian city in Italy) is considered the reference point for the entire sector relating to the processing of coral since the 1500s. The artistic workmanship of Trapani and the skill of the engravers acquired a great notoriety.

This piece of coral depicts a very pretty Bacchante with wine leaves in her hair.

Bacchante is a priestess of Bacchus, the god of wine. Her name is associated with women participating in wild parties or she is referred as a shameless drunk woman. In other words, the fun party girl in Roman times.
