This is a lovely set of five vintage 12 inch clear and red glass German Christmas ornaments, these kugels are heavy and fashioned as a bunch of grapes in pressed glass.
Kugels (which actually mean “spheres” in German) appeared around 1800 and originally where sold for decorating the windows.
Rare to find and exceptional because of their size.
They all have their original metal cap and ring for hanging and a piece of chain. All of them are in excellent condition with no losses to the glass or the colour.
Three clear glass ones and two red glass ones, one is lighter red and one is darker red. They are about the same size, but there are slight size differences.
Great for decorating during the holidays.
Could also be used outdoors.
