Very rare and pretty MCM 1950s Italian Empoli carafe in vaseline glass also known as uranium glass.

In bright yellow but in UV-light it turns bright green.

Uranium glass is glass in which small traces uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form (a uranium salt also known as the yellow oxide of uranium), are added to the glass mix before melting for coloration.

Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s.

The word Uranium sounds dangerous but radiation in uranium glass is considered to be harmless and only negligibly radioactive.

These objects are now considered antiques or retro and highly collectable, you can see why.
